Marvin's Room

About This Project

Marvin's Room is a Canadian radio program on CBC Music, created and originally hosted by Amanda Parris. Debuting in July 2016, the show explores the rich landscape of rhythm and blues (R&B), blending both historical and contemporary tracks to showcase the genre's evolution. The program's title bridges the past and present of R&B, referencing both Marvin Gaye's iconic recording studio and Drake's song 'Marvins Room.' In November 2020, Parris took maternity leave, with music journalist A. Harmony stepping in as interim host. By September 2022, A. Harmony became the permanent host after Parris announced her departure. Marvin's Room continues to offer listeners an engaging journey through the nuances of R&B music.
