Revenge of the Black Best Friend is a Canadian Screen Award winning Canadian comedy web series that premiered in 2022 on CBC Gem. Created by Amanda Parris, the series stars Oluniké Adeliyi as Dr. Toni Shakur, a self-help guru dedicated to challenging the entertainment industry's reliance on token Black characters. Through her talk show and interventions, Dr. Shakur confronts stereotypes such as the sassy Black friend and the Black character who dies first in horror films. The series offers a satirical and insightful critique of racial tropes in media, blending humour with social commentary.
